June 9, 1993: An East Side Allentown woman saw fifteen-year-old Charlotte Schmoyer’s abandoned Morning Call newspaper cart. She called the police. Schmoyer’s supervisor hadn’t heard from the girl. Her bicycle and radio were also abandoned. The police and, then, Lehigh County DA Robert Steinberg followed a tip that took them to the woods by the East Side Reservoir. They tracked a trail of blood leading from a parking lot and found Schmoyer’s body. They didn’t know she wasn’t the killer’s first victim. The only other lead was a sighted blue car. It would become apparent Allentown had a serial killer – Harvey Miguel “Miggy” Robinson.

Robinson’s First Victim

August 9, 1992: Joan Burghardt entered her living room when Robinson crashed in through the front window’s screen. She ran into another room where she screamed for help and pounded on her apartment’s wall. A neighbor heard her, but did nothing. Robinson turned on the television and raised the volume to cover her screams. Neighbors ignored heard these noises. Seventeen-year old Robinson bludgeoned her to death. Soon, he was incarcerated in juvenile detention for burglary.

June 28 1993: Denise Sam-Cali was home alone. Husband John was on a business trip. She heard a noise that convinced she wasn’t alone and decided to go to a neighbor’s house.
