The Greene Brothers are famous architects known for their homes and their architectural influence in California. However, they weren’t originally from the California, but from back east where they went to college, got their degrees in architecture and eventually began work.

They only arrived in California after their parents were settled and then began to work together in building homes that unite the landscape with the building. Their goals became simple, to achieve the perfect house for each individual with the best material available.

The Bandini House

Despite the name, the Bandini house had nothing to do with “Ask the Dust” by John Fante. Instead the Bandini house was an early project of the brothers. The Bandini house was commissioned by a descendant of the California Dons and held the romantic view of vistas and outside patios with arcades. The brothers designed him a house that combined the arcades of Spanish revival with craftsman style architecture and even Japanese design.
