The Cinque Terre describes five fishing villages that are situated at the foot of steep cliffs on Italy’s Mediterranean coast on the Bay of Liguria. The area east of Genoa and west of Pisa is along a steep coastline where Italy’s best nature preserve and most notable hiking trails attract adventure vacationers and nature lovers.

Cinque Terre Villages

The villages as you encounter them from the east are Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare. Each village offers lodging in B&Bs and hotels, vacation rentals and villas. Monterosso al Mare offers a sand beach. Walking trails in the steeply terraced hillsides connect the villages and make a great hiking vacation.
